Religious Services

The policy, of the Correctional Work Center, is to provide all inmates with the opportunity to engage in non-denominational religious activities that promote healing, respect for fellow human beings, and to develop an advocacy program which will serve as a tool to fulfill personal outreach.

Pastor Jimmy L. Tyson, affiliate Pastor of Rockvale Independent Original Church of God

Photo of Pastor Jimmy TysonChaplain Tyson is a native of West Tennessee, he moved to the Rutherford County area in 1979 after attending Austin Peay State University and working part time as a chef at Fort Campbell Ky. Chaplain Tyson began his career here with the Alvin C. York V. A. Medical Center in November of the same year. As a Federal employee Chaplain Tyson has served on several boards and committees. The EEO Program Chairperson and the VAEA just to name a few. Chaplain Tyson is a recipient of the Rutherford County Humanitarian of the year award and he is also a Licensed Christian Counselor, Graduating from the National Christian Counseling Association under the direction of Dr. Ron Hamm.

Chaplain Tyson is the Pastor of the Rockvale Independent Original Church of God located in Christiana, TN where he has been for 15 years. Chaplain Tyson has served as Chaplain for the Rutherford County Correctional Work Center since 2000, during this time he has worked with and given advice to many residents as well as staff. He has assisted in the organization of many Christian based programs and oversees the visitation of pastors and many Christian leaders within the community. With the assistance of staff, Chaplain Tyson has been able to counsel many residents and assist in getting them back into the community with a Christian attitude.
