Convenience Center Rules:

  • The centers are intended to be used by Rutherford County residents only.
  • The centers will accept household waste and recyclable materials.
  • Recyclable materials should be separated from the trash before arrival to the centers.
  • Only one visit per day with the equivalence of one level pickup truck load is allowed.
  • Trailers of 10 feet in length or less are allowed into the centers. If you are pulling the trailer with a truck, we will only accept the load on the trailer or the truck, not both.
  • No yard waste or brush. These items are accepted at Murfreesboro Mulch facility or the Rutherford County Landfill.
  • If you need help to place your trash into our containers, please bring the help with you.
  • No commercial materials are allowed.
  • No scavenging is allowed.
  • No propane or gas tanks are accepted.
  • No flammable fuels or oils are accepted.
  • No dumping when the centers are closed.
  • No box trucks or enclosed trailers are allowed.
  • Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners must have the doors and Freon removed and free of food before arrival at the centers.
  • The centers will not accept paint, televisions, computers, florescent light bulbs or ballast.
  • Electronics are accepted on Tuesday and Saturday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at the Rutherford County Recycle Center located at 1140 Haley Road, Murfreesboro.
  • Latex paint should be mixed with oil dry, saw dust, or kitty liter; or poured out onto cardboard, old carpet or plastic and allowed to dry completely. Once the paint is dry, it can be thrown away with your regular trash.

The facility and grounds are available to all eligible persons regardless of age, race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, or veteran status. The facility and grounds will not be used by any organization that would put the County in competition with private business. Questions concerning the eligibility of use will be referred to the Public Works Committee of the Rutherford County Commission for resolution.
