On Tuesday and Saturday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at 1140 Haley Road (ONLY). The County provides a small crew to assist residents in unloading the electronic waste to be recycled. The center will accept anything with an electric cord and batteries on Tuesday and Saturday only. If the cord has been removed or is other wise missing there will be a $5.00 disposal charge.

Continue to check this site for additional items to be collected in the future. As time and budget permits, the County plans to also collect paint, oil, and antifreeze. 

Recycling centers for Rutherford County residents are provided in four locations. These four locations are open 24 hours each day, seven days each week.

Two locations are in Murfreesboro:
• Sam’s Club on John Rice Blvd
• Rutherford County Recycle Center on 1140 Haley Road

Two locations are in Smyrna:
• Kroger on S. Lowery
• Kroger on Sam Ridley

Recyclable materials accepted are:
• broken down cardboard
• flattened plastic beverage containers
• newspaper
• mixed paper and magazines
• glass containers
• aluminum cans &steel cans

Please do not throw a bag full of commodity into the container. Empty the commodity from the bag into the container and place the empty bag in the trash or take it with you to be used for your next visit. These locations do not accept anything other than the commodities mentioned. If a container at one of the locations is full, please DO NOT leave you commodities on the ground. Please, take the commodities to another recycling center or one of the convenience centers that have bins for that commodity.

 

The facility and grounds are available to all eligible persons regardless of age, race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, or veteran status. The facility and grounds will not be used by any organization that would put the County in competition with private business. Questions concerning the eligibility of use will be referred to the Public Works Committee of the Rutherford County Commission for resolution.
