The Solid Waste Department provides solid waste and recycling collection areas.  The collection areas are for the use of Rutherford County residents only. The department operates fourteen Convenience Centers throughout the county and provides recycling and waste collection and transportation service for all the county and city schools.

Limited disposal services are provided by the operation of a Class III/IV, construction and demolition waste, landfill. The Rutherford County Landfill also accepts off the rim waste tires and brush.

Recycling services are coordinated by the department. The department operates four recycle only sites within the county. One of the sites (Haley Road) accepts electronic waste for recycling on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s.

The facility and grounds are available to all eligible persons regardless of age, race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, or veteran status. The facility and grounds will not be used by any organization that would put the County in competition with private business. Questions concerning the eligibility of use will be referred to the Public Works Committee of the Rutherford County Commission for resolution.
