Election Official Recruiting/Training Information
Precinct Election Official Qualifications
-
Must be a resident of Rutherford County, Tennessee
-
Must be a registered voter in Rutherford County, Tennessee
-
Must not be an elected government official or a manager or treasurer
for any candidate/political party
-
Must not be a candidate in the election
Precinct Election Official Positions

Precinct Elections Officer

Precinct Voter Registrar

Precinct Voting Machine Technician

Precinct Technical Assistant
Training
Precinct Election Officials are required to attend training conducted
by the Administrator of Elections' team prior to each election.
Compensation
Precinct Election Officials are compensated for time spent in training
and for work on election day. Please allow 1-2 weeks for receipt of stipend pay.
Election Day Checklist

Arrive by 6:00 a.m. Stay 'til Officer releases

Wear acceptable, comfortable shoes and clothing
-
No Campaign attire, buttons, or political jewelry
-
Arrange food and beverages for the entire day
-
Personal cell phone usage - outside polling place
-
No campaign bumper stickers inside 100' line
-
Discussion of politics is not permitted while working at the polls
-
Smoking is not permitted in polling place
