Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to direct Correctional Work Center operations and activities to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of the public, employees, and all offenders placed at the Correctional Work Center. Duties and responsibilities include directing and coordinating department activities, supervising assigned staff, enforcing rules/regulations and policies/procedures, developing and administering budget, developing policies and strategic plans, investigating and resolving complaints, directing enforcement of rules and security operations; directing supervision and care of employees and inmates, preparing documentation, maintaining records, and performing other functions as assigned. Reports to County Mayor.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or closely related field; supplemented by completion of a correctional institute training program; supplemented by six (6) years of progressive supervisory experience involving detention/corrections facility operations, law enforcement work, budget administration, and supervision; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid Tennessee Correctional Institute Certification, Chemical Weapons Certification, CPR/AED Certification, Basic First Aid, and Tennessee driver’s license. Must complete annual in-service training. Preferred experience in implementing special programs such at Parenting programs, GED classes, Life Skills, or other programs that will assist inmates re-entering work and home life. Trustee Office
Deputy Trustee - Tax Freeze
Starting Salary:

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to coordinate tax freeze program associated with the Rutherford County Trustee office by processing, reviewing, scanning, and submitting all tax freeze applications to the State of Tennessee and to the Assessor of Property; send/receive additional documents to the State and/or the Assessor of Property; verify accuracy of all information; maintain applications and coordinate future appointments. Requires excellent customer service skills, problem solving abilities, and basic bookkeeping skills. Reports directly to the Chief Deputy Trustee.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 years previous administrative experience and/or experience working in a Trustee’s office; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Image Ease scanning, and Internet use. Preferred experience with completing Federal Income taxes, bookkeeping, and real estate values/appraisals. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Litter Collection Monitor

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to oversee a crew of inmates assigned to work detail involving litter collection from roadside areas. Duties and responsibilities include identifying sites requiring litter collection, planning daily work schedule and necessary equipment/materials, transporting inmates to work sites, monitoring inmates during work activities, preparing documentation and maintaining records, and performing other tasks as assigned. Reports to Solid Waste Director.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 6 months previous experience and/or training in transportation, supervision, commercial driving; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. PAWS
Veterinarian
Starting Salary: $43,310

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to perform under general direction professional, managerial, and administrative duties involved in prevention and control of communicable diseases among animals. Performs other related duties as required. Responsible for directing care for nearly 10,000 animals a year, must train and educate other staff members in disease control measures and protocols. Must be able to perform 10-15 surgeries including spays and neuters each day, provide examinations for sick and injured stray animals, and also healthy adoptable animals. Must be willing/able to perform pediatric spay and neuters. Works closely with the PAWS Director to develop policies and procedures relative to the organization’s purpose, providing care for stray and homeless animals of Rutherford County. Reports to PAWS Director.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree from an accredited college, supplemented by two (2) years of prior experience and/or training involving provision of veterinary services; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain valid license to practice Veterinary Medicine in Tennessee. Must possess and maintain a valid class “D” Tennessee driver’s license. |
