Technical Support Supervisor

Department: Office of Information Technology

Starting Salary: $49,000 - $52,610 (Commensurate with Experience)

Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to administer, coordinate, and supervise technical operations involving effective operation and utilization of county computer equipment and to ensure a positive end-user experience for all county computer users.  Duties and responsibilities include prioritizing and assigning work, coordinating computer installation, maintenance, oversees call center operations, project management, repair, and troubleshooting projects, implementing data backup and data recovery, and performing other duties as assigned. Report to Technical Support Manager.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with training emphasis in Information Systems, Computer Operations, Networking Systems, or a related field; supplemented by five (5) years previous experience and/or training that includes computer operations/maintenance, software applications, PC troubleshooting, and network systems administration or any equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Special clearance needed for certain assignments which require a background check and fingerprinting.

Detention/Corrections Officer (Part-Time)

Department: Juvenile Detention Center

Starting Salary: $13.37 - $14.35 (commensurate with experience)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform security work associated with maintaining the safety, security and welfare of inmates at the Juvenile Detention Center. Duties and responsibilities include enforcing facility rules and regulations, maintaining discipline, processing incoming inmates, monitoring activities and behavior of inmates, coordinating provision of food, medical care and supplies for inmates, providing courtroom and courthouse security, transporting inmates, preparing documentation, maintaining records, and performing other tasks as assigned. Assignment to Juvenile Detention Center reports to Corporal, Detention.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; preferred basic jailer certification; supplemented by six months of previous experience.  Must obtain and maintain Basic Jail Certification by attending and passing required in-service training, Chemical Weapons Certification, and CPR Certification.  Assignment to transportation duties requires possession and maintenance of a valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of insurance.  Requires ability to pass Physical Agility test, drug and alcohol screening is required. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.

Note:  This position is for a female applicant.  This person will be required to oversee, interact and protect the privacy rights of female detainees.  Juvenile Detention Officer Positions are established with a BFOQ (Bona Fide Occupational Qualification) dependent on the gender of the residential unit (male/female) to which they are assigned due to the direct custodial care and nature of the interaction required by these positions

Animal Control Officer

Department:

P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption and Welfare Services)

Starting Salary: $29,468 - $31,641 (Commensurate with Experience)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform general/specialized work associated with providing effective and efficient animal control. Duties and responsibilities include enforcing animal control ordinances and regulations, responding to complaints involving animals, trapping/capturing animals, picking up injured or stray animals, investigating cases of animal bites or animal abuse, performing euthanasia of animals, answering telephone calls and dispatching staff, completing forms and maintaining records, and providing information and assistance.  Reports to Animal Control Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by 2 months previous experience and/or training involving animal control or animal handling; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must possess and maintain valid Euthanasia Certification. Must possess experience and knowledge in determining animal condition and health and has the ability to handle situations in a professional/tactful manner. Must also possess time management skills, including the capability to work productively in fast-paced environment, keep focus on several tasks at once, and be prepared for interruptions when needed to attend to more crucial matters. Must be able to effectively communicate knowledge and information to a non-technical audience. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email, and Internet.

Kennel Attendant (Part- Time)

Department:

P.A.W.S. (Pet Adoption and Welfare Services)

Starting Salary: $8.00 per hour

Job Summary:  The purpose of this classification is to perform general work associated with providing effective and efficient animal control. Duties and responsibilities include feeding animals, cleaning cages, laundry, supervising/working with inmates and volunteers, assisting officers with administering vaccinations, assisting public in kennels, and completing other tasks as assigned. Documents all inquiries, service requests, and comments received from the public to provide pertinent information on adoptions, ordinance requirements, spay/neuter questions, and any other type of general information. The position will be required to work weekend and holiday hours. Reports to Animal Control Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:  High school diploma or GED and basic knowledge of animal behavior; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Previous experience working in animal care (i.e. pet-sitting experience) preferred. Requires immunization of pre-exposure rabies series. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. Must possess basic computer skills, including but not limited to word processing, email, and Internet.

Election Workers

Department: Rutherford County Election Commission

 

The Rutherford County Election Commission is in need of election workers for the following election:

Thursday, August 7th, and Tuesday, November 4th.

Positions Needed:
Voter Registrars (paper style)--pay is $120/day
Voter Registrars (computer style)--pay is $120/day
Voting Machine Operators--pay is $120/day
Computer Set-up Technicians--pay is $170/day--must be knowledgeable enough about computers to set up laptops, connect printers and mouse to laptops, and connect laptops to a network hub. Required training is 2 hours.

Must be at least 17 years old (an excused absence form will be provided for your high school); Must be a registered voter of Rutherford County (unless only 17 years old); Must be reliable and have reliable transportation; Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds (some positions); Computer skills preferred; Cannot be a candidate or elected official; Other restrictions may apply.

Most County employees are not eligible however; teachers and administators at schools are eligible.
