The Rutherford County Election Commission is in need of election workers for the following elections:
Tuesday, April 15th, 2014: Murfreesboro City Election (5:30/6:00am through approximately 7:30pm)
Tuesday, May 6th, 2014: May Republican Party Primary
Voter Registrars (paper style)--pay is $120/day
Voter Registrars (computer style)--pay is $120/day
Voting Machine Operators--pay is $120/day
Computer Set-up Technicians--pay is $170/day--must be knowledgeable enough about computers to set up laptops, connect printers and mouse to laptops, and connect laptops to a network hub
Required training is 2 hours, and times are available March 10-21, first come, first serve.
Must be at least 17 years old (an excused absence form will be provided for your high school);
Must be a registered voter of Rutherford County (unless only 17 years old);
Must be reliable and have reliable transportation; Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds (some positions); Computer skills preferred; Cannot be a candidate or elected official; Other restrictions may apply.
Most County employees are not eligible however; teachers and administators at schools are eligible.

Food Service Worker(11:00 am till 7:00pm, Friday through Tuesday)
Department: Sheriff’s Office
Starting Salary: $27,800 – $29,850 (commensurate with experience)
Job Summary: The purpose of this classification is to perform security work associated with maintaining the duties and responsibilities in the kitchen area. Assignment to the Detention Center reports to Corporal, Detention.
Assignment to Food Service may involve the following additional functions: to plan meals for prisoners, including special diet menus; cook and/or prepare food for daily meals; maintain records of daily meals. Clean/maintain kitchen facilities (e.g., trays, pots/pans, cooking utensils, equipment, work surfaces, etc.) Operate various machinery and equipment associated with food preparation and food service (e.g., blender, coffeepot, dishwasher, mixer, oven, slicer, steamer, stove, etc.). Supervise trustees assigned to kitchen duties; escort to/from kitchen as needed; assign work activities and provide instruction/guidance; monitor/approve work activities. Perform count of knives and tray contents after each meal; ensure all knives are returned; maintain records; maintain inventory of food/kitchen supplies; initiate orders for new or replacement materials. Receive packing slips and invoices; review for accuracy and completeness; forward as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; Commercial Kitchen and basic jailer experience preferred; supplemented by six months of previous experience and/or training involving law enforcement, security, or corrections/detention center work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must obtain and maintain Basic Jail Certification by attending and passing required in-service training, Chemical Weapons Certification and CPR Certification. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
