Open Enrollment 2009 Overview

During November Rutherford County Government will conduct its annual open enrollment for changes that will become effective on January 1, 2009. All changes in current medical and dental enrollments must be made through the web-based enrollment tool – Rutherford Online Enrollment. This tool is simple to use and will help you through the process. If you do not intend to change your plans, you do not need to go online, your current benefits will carry forward to 2009.

During open enrollment eligible employees and their dependents can:

  • Enroll in the medical plan

  • Change their medical plan option

  • Enroll in the dental plan

  • Change their dental plan option

  • Elect to contribute to a medical and/or dependent care reimbursement account or purchase voluntary products from USAble

    • Representatives from USAble will be available at your worksite to assist in this process

  • Purchase voluntary benefits through AFLAC

    • You must do this through the representatives from AFLAC

There is a new medical option this year! Option 3 is a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) plan that combines an employer-funded health reimbursement arrangement with a high-deductible medical plan. This option is available to you with no premium deduction from your paycheck.

There will be no premium increase for your existing medical plan for 2009! There will be some minor changes to deductible and out-of-pocket maximums in medical Option 1, and to all of the existing pharmacy plans.

You cannot enroll on this site, it is simply to help you select which plan works best for you.

Dental Option 1 will not have a rate change, but Dental Option 2 rates will increase 5%. There are no changes to the benefits for either of these 2 plans.

With the roll-out of the new On-the-Job Injury program, comes a County-funded Long Term Disability benefit. For those of you paying for this coverage on a voluntary basis, your policies will be canceled, resulting in a significant savings to you! You do not need to do anything to enroll in this benefit, you will be enrolled automatically. Please see the attached flyer for additional details.

Open Enrollment is only available Nov. 1, 2008 through Nov. 30, 2008.
All County offices will be closed November 27th and November 28th.
Be sure to enroll by November 26th if you think you may need help.
