Workers’ CompensationThis information relates to the Workers’ Compensation Program for Rutherford County Government. This Program is governed by the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Law pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 50, Chapter 6. It is a benefits program that provides medical, rehabilitation, income, death and other benefits to employees and dependents due to injury, illness and death resulting from a compensable work-related claim covered by law. This information has been prepared to assist in relieving some of the uncertainty an injured employee may have after a work-related injury or illness. It contains details about benefits to which an injured employee are eligible under this Workers’ Compensation Program, should there be a work-related injury or illness. In addition to these benefits, the injured employee also has certain responsibilities. The benefits and responsibilities are described in greater detail through this handbook. It is unlawful for Rutherford County Government to terminate an employee for reporting a work-related injury. Wrongful termination is not enforceable under Tennessee Workers' Compensation Law. It is important to know that the Workers’ Compensation Law has been modified and amended by the Tennessee Legislature many times. This information is based on the latest amendments to the Law. |
