Judge Donna Scott Davenport

began her education in Tigerville, South Carolina at North Greenville College. She attended from 1970 to 1972, receiving an Associate of Science degree with the focus on education and religion. Upon completing this degree, Judge Davenport continued her education at Middle Tennessee State University, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and an Associates of Arts degree in Law Enforcement. Continuing at Middle Tennessee State University, she received her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice in 1980. She then attended Nashville School of Law and was awarded a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1986.

After entering the private practice of law in association with J. Mark Rogers in 1995, Judge Davenport also took on the job of part-time Juvenile Court Referee (now called “Magistrate”). One year into practicing private law, Judge Davenport began teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Middle Tennessee State University, where she continues to teach for the Criminal Justice department every spring and fall semester. The official appointment to Rutherford County Juvenile Court was made in 1999, and she became Referee Donna Scott. Judge Scott (now Davenport) was first elected in 2000 and was then re-elected in 2006 to a full eight-year term as Judge of the Juvenile Court of Rutherford County.

An active member of her community, Judge Davenport is a board member of the Murfreesboro Evening Exchange Club, Crime Stoppers of Rutherford County, Teen Trax, and Books from Birth. She is a member of the Rutherford/Cannon County Bar association, Andrew Jackson American Inn of Court, Tennessee Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges where she also serves on the Educational Committee, National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, National Association of Women Judges, Task Force to Study Self-Represented Litigant Issues--Supreme Court of Tennessee, National CASA Association, and the National Association of Counsel for Children. Judge Davenport is a former board member of Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra, Boys and Girls Club of Rutherford County, United Way of Rutherford County, and Rutherford County Correction Work Center Education Commission.

Judge Davenport volunteers her time with the Junior League of Murfreesboro, World Outreach Church, Murfreesboro Medical Ambassadors, and the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raider Athletic Association. She is also a former state-certified Department of Children’s Services foster parent.
