Rutherford County Offices will be closed Monday, September 5th in observance of Labor Day.
Community open houses for PlanRutherford, the County’s Comprehensive Plan update, have been scheduled. PlanRutherford will provide the framework for growth in unincorporated Rutherford County and address other quality of life matters for the county. The information shared during this initial set of meetings will help identify potential solutions and actions upon which the community will provide feedback. These meetings will focus on learning more about changes and issues that impact residents now and may in the future and creating a community vision and priorities for Rutherford County.
The Historic Courthouse will be lit in Teal April 24th - 30th to recognize April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
The COVID-19 Emergency Rental Relief Program was developed in an effort to support renters who were struggling to pay rent and utilities due to loss of wages/income as a result of the pandemic. The program was designed to help the residents of Rutherford County maintain their housing and avoid eviction. The program provided much needed relief to landlords as well. The successful Emergency Rental program has helped over 3200 households in Rutherford County. Residents of Rutherford County that are still in need of assistance are encouraged to apply with the Tennesssee Housing Development
At the Central Tennessee Regional Solid Waste Board meeting on April 7th, Rutherford County Representative Donna Barrett introduced a resolution that states that the region will prohibit the acceptance of trash from outside counties, including from Davidson County. The Board then moved the resolution forward for consideration following a public hearing at the Board’s next meeting.
Rutherford County broke ground last week for the Kittrell Health & Public Safety Building, the second of six public safety buildings to be positioned in rural areas of the County.
The Kittrell Health & Public Safety Building is one of six public safety buildings made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Coronavirus Recovery Funds issued from the federal government in 2021.
Rutherford County Pet Adoption & Welfare Services (PAWS) is urgently seeking forever homes for dozens of pets, including over 60 dogs. With limited staffing and upcoming maintenance that will affect many areas of the shelter, PAWS needs support now more than ever.
On Saturday, February 26th, Rutherford County Mayor Bill Ketron hosted a meal packing event with county employee volunteers to provide food to the local food insecure. During the first year, just over 50,000 meals were packaged by volunteers.
