Rutherford County is hosting a meeting to discuss the CDBG-CV Food Insecurity grant opportunity announced by the TN Department of Economic & Community Development. Local nonprofits that provide food and have food pantry facilities for low and moderate income families cannot apply directly. Only local county governments are eligible to be direct recipients of these grant funds.

The County is hosting a meeting to gauge the interest in the community. TNECD anticipates that local governments will partner with their participating partner agencies to carry out this grant. Partner agencies and their needs will be identified in the grant application. Counties that are successfully awarded will purchase the requested equipment and supplies to be distributed to the participating partner agencies.

Interested agencies, churches and food pantries need to be prepared for this discussion by reviewing the Program Guidelines and other information on the TNECD website: https://www.tn.gov/ecd/community-development-block-grant/cdbg/cdbg-cv/addressing-food-insecurity.html

This will be an exploratory meeting for the collaboration of local agencies for the food insecurity gaps/needs of the community.
