Welcome to the new website of the Rutherford County Property Assessor. We have prepared this site with the purpose of providing the information and tools needed to understand property assessments and appraisal methods. Also available to you is access to many resources through the Assessor’s Office such as downloadable forms and interactive tools that could save you considerable time and effort.

The Property Assessor’s office is required to locate, classify and appraise all taxable property according to the laws of the State of Tennessee. We currently have over 101,000 individual real property accounts and approximately 11,000 businesses. We currently have a staff of 32 employees.

Our staff of knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly professionals is ready to serve you. If at any time you have a question about an assessment or any other issue pertaining to county property appraisals, please call us.

Please remember that the Assessor’s office does not raise or lower your tax rate; that is a function of the County Commission. The Assessor does, however, strive to effectively administer Tennessee tax law and fairly appraise all property subject to taxation as mandated by the General Assembly.
