Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT)

The Crisis Negotiations Team is a nine person unit of senior, experienced deputies and detectives, who utilize special skills and training to peacefully end hostage, barricade and terrorist situations. The negotiators have received specialized training in hostage release, suicide intervention, tactical intervention and active listening. Although the CNT is not part of the FAST team, both teams work closely together to end situations in a peaceful manner.

The CNT is also active in training crisis/hostage negotiators from across the state. All new deputies at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office receive training in first response to crisis and hostage situations during their training period which is taught by members of the CNT.
