Cold Case Detective–Lt. Bill Sharp

Lieutenant Bill Sharp started his Law Enforcement career with the Woodbury Police Department in 1991 and transferred to Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office in July 1993.

Sharp served in the Patrol Division for three years before being promoted to Detective in 1996. Sharp has worked in the Marine Patrol, Mounted Patrol and has taught Criminal Investigation and Crime Scene investigations to Law Enforcement in-services and Citizen Police Academies.

Sharp has been a supervisor in the CID, Narcotics, Patrol Division and Criminal Warrants, He returned to CID in July 2007. Sharp is currently assigned the Cold Case Unit.

He earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1992. Sharp graduated from the 234th session of the FBI National Academy in September 2008.

In his spare time Sharp coaches high school and middle school baseball and enjoys fishing and spending time with the family.
