Commander Guy Goff
The detention center houses up to 958 inmates at the nine-story facility at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.
Goff began his law enforcement career in 1986 at the White County Sheriff’s Office in Sparta, Tenn. He transferred to the Sparta Police Department from 1989-90 before returning to the sheriff’s office from 1990-98. During that time, Goff received promotions as shift supervisor to chief criminal investigator where he worked on complex cases ranging from drug to homicide investigations. He was assigned to the 13th Judicial District’s Drug Task Force.
He served as White County Sheriff from 1998-2002 before joining the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office where he worked as a school resource officer.
Goff graduated from White County High School and attended Martin College in Pulaski. He completed many specialized law enforcement schools including FBI homicide, hostage negotiations, firearms training, community oriented policing, FBI law enforcement executive training, auto theft investigation, child abuse investigations and the Tennessee Sheriff’s Association school for new sheriffs.
