A Message from Sheriff Truman JonesAs your Sheriff, school safety has always been a priority of my administration. We started the SRO program in 1993 with 5 officers covering 5 schools and it was vital to have a program to where officers were not just police officers monitoring the halls. I knew that to be successful was to mean having our officers developing a rapport with the students as well as with faculty, staff and parents. Through a partnership with Director Gill and the Rutherford County School system, we have been allowed to have such a program with officers being available to our children to help with issues that come up through counseling and also teaching classes that educate on many topics such as drug and alcohol awareness and prevention, and character education just to name a few. I am honored to be serving the citizens of Rutherford County with such a program and know that education first begins in the home and that I and my officers are a resource if and when needed.
