Rutherford County - TN (October 14, 2022) Rutherford County Engineer William Steele was awarded the 2022 Firefighter of the Year Award through the Noon Exchange Club on October 12, 2022.
He has obtained multiple certifications and taken on extra responsibilities within the department. Steele quickly has become one of the best engineers according to his peers as evidenced by being recruited to help instruct fire pump operations at the Tennessee Fire and Codes Academy. As an active member of the fire investigation team, he has already been instrumental in a felony arrest.
“Steele goes above and beyond every day to make sure he always displays a positive attitude and is a true example to new firefighters,” stated Chief Larry Farley during remarks made at the ceremony. This is not just a job for Steele but a calling. He regularly checks on his brothers and sisters in the department to make sure things are going well for them.
When asked about this prestigious award Steele gave the following statements. “First, I am beyond honored to receive such a prestigious award and foremost give credit to GOD, my wonderful family, and to the visionary leadership of the entire command staff at Rutherford County Fire Rescue. Chief Farley and staff have graciously provided a path for me to excel and always recognize hard work. To be honored amongst some of the outstanding firemen & women is without a doubt unbelievable and I am humbled and driven to continue the tradition of excellence. We all at RCFR strive for perfection and never settle for mediocracy. A special thank you to the Noon Exchange Club, Chief Farley and the command staff for this special award.”
